If one subscribed to the worldview that all the great powers deserve to have their own sphere of influence and that "might makes right", wouldn't this be all the more reason for the Europeans to try to assert themselves and stop a rival power (Russia) from grabbing land (Ukraine) which they want in their own sphere of influence? Your premise might disprove the initial justification which was given for the Western support for Ukraine, but it doesn't contradict the support itself.
Either way, this conflict is plodding along, with nothing too meaningful happening in recent days while a ton of shit is going on in other places (Venezuela, Greenland, Minneapolis (x2), Berlin, etc.), so it's perfectly normal that activity in this thread slowed down. Even more so over the Christmas holidays.
Once again the facts real quick --> NATO ( millitary alliance founded to counter the USSR) has expanded East for about 3 decades and planned to expand into Ukraine.
It's not the other way around. How is it possible that after 4 years people like you still don't understand that the main issue here is that NATO was in the proces of expanding into Ukraine and Russia is in the proces of preventing that. Which is why this issue pops up in every Russian peace proposal: Ukraine gives up their ambitions to join NATO. And then EU finding that unacceptable.
Another quick fact the thread slowed down because most NAFO hotheads have left or got banned from posting here. We've got
5K pages in the old topic tp prove it
