So what is being said here is that trump KNEW what epstein was up to, did not report him, waited until epstein tried to buy the same condo as him and got mad at him then called to congratulate the cops on arresting the guy he knew was molesting children but never reported.

Trump has been known to not lie nor exaggerate anything. Its one of his many qualities, just like his picked administration. Take Lutnick for example. I believe he is now just recalling, that he may have not quite communicated things correctly before. Now some might say he lied, but I think it was honest, because he belongs to my political party and therefore its probably not a lie, he probably just didn't remember correctly at the time!
