If they stall long enough and he can get reelected then it's basically dead in the water. If the case against Trump is manufactured and false and he's been set up then the only real defence would be Trump getting reelected, you can't beat a stacked deck unless you can replace the deck. If they don't think the case is manufactured and false then it becomes even more imperative to delay hoping Trump gets reelected because there isn't even hope a conscientious member of the team(s) after him will reveal proof of the manufactured evidence the only hope is making him president again.

From my perspective it's the only real strategy they've got.

take all the time to build a case then want to rush the case leaving no time to build a defense. just more TDS leftie dirtbag games.
