There are security cameras blanketing the white house. If something was seen they shouldn't have been, there's little doubt the FBI will deal with it.

So, let's go back to touching the pen... Do you stand by having somebody arrested for touching a pen, or not? Or have you shifted to "all should be arrested"?

Are you fucking kidding me? In this very thread, I condemned yesterday's storm on the Capitol in no uncertain terms. I called these events "insanity", "madness", "completely unacceptable" and gave my opinion that this mob would not have had a reason to complain if capitol police had mowed them down like GIs on the beaches of the Normandy. I also gave my opinion that yes, this clearly was an attempt at violently overthrowing democracy, and Trump's role in these shameful and dangerous events has discredited him and effectively ends his political career.

What I am disagreeing with is this notion that yesterday's events are totally unique and completely without any precedent.





Ezra Klein applied a generalization of the blame for yesterday's events to Republicans and conservative media in his twitter thread that IceMage posted and praised.
I'm just applying the same kind of generalization of the blame for violent events to Democrats and liberal media. Not more, not less.

they didnt get to the vote, they were going state by state to present statements about the election, alphabetically, and they made it to Arizona.

but anyways, u can think the ceremony itself is dumb or unneeded, thats fine. but the law is the law. and in any case its less about the legalities here (which people can argue even if its a bit silly imo) and more about the very clear objective differences between the cases.
