I get not bulk buying for some things since a lot of foods dont freeze well and spoil, but for things like tp, rice, dish soap, etc that dont spoil, don't cost too much, and dont take up a lot of space I dont get it. Guess its just people generally being bad at math.

many people are bad organizers. even on a "paycheck to paycheck" budget u could bulk buy. tp this week, rice next, etc. but people aren't smart enough to think beyond a week. sad, but true.

Asian countries know how to deal with this shit. White people cry like a bitch when their freedoms are taken away. Cam could have his entire family drop dead and he'd still bitch about the government restricting rights and regulating the markets.

C.D.C. Gives New Guidelines, New York to Close Restaurants and Schools and Italian Deaths Rise

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/15/world/coronavirus-live.html

Quote
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended Sunday that no gatherings with 50 people or more — including weddings, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events or conferences — be held in the United States for the next eight weeks in one of the federal government’s most sweeping efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The C.D.C. said that its recommendation, which would drastically change life in the United States for the next two months, does not apply to “the day to day operation of organizations such as schools, institutes of higher learning, or businesses” and added that it was not intended to supersede the advice of local health officials.

“This recommendation is made in an attempt to reduce introduction of the virus into new communities,” it said, “and to slow the spread of infection in communities already affected by the virus.”

And the C.D.C. urged people to take care with even small gatherings. “Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene and social distancing,” its recommendation said. “When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.”

Gettin' serious.

Toilet paper actually takes up a lot of space if you really stockpile on it. Which is also the reason why toilet paper is running out right now: TP uses up more space per unit than almost an other item in a store, like e.g. canned soup, bags of chips or toothpaste.

Since its consumption is normally very steady, stores have only few units of TP in store at any given moment, relative to most other goods. A store might have 30 packs of TP, but 100 packs of chips or processed food of a certain type (e.g. canned soup) etc. Hence, when demand suddenly spikes just a little bit, the TP shelves look empty very soon. This, in turn, then prompts customers to think that TP is running out, so now everyone starts panic buying it.

Wonder what real numbers are?

We have about 30 people isolated that we think have it but we can't test them.

High chance the vast majority of people with this virus we don't know about because of the way our government is rationing tests.
