In regards to the obesity issue I personally prefer the idea of positive reinforcement through a tax incentive program. You would have to have a physical where they measure your bmi, cholesterol and body fat and based on your levels you could get tax credit/break. It would be required every year to get the benefit. I think it would be a lot better to do it that way since I don't see how you could even logistically figure out who's overweight or not and tax them additionally.

The way you could treat it similarly to cigarettes is you'd have added taxes to "junk" food. I'm personally opposed to that idea.
