This is kinda true. That being said Trump led Republican wants to have a " war " with China while Democrats wants a " war " with Russia.
If we look at it in a different manner, Trump led Republican although a trade war is ongoing the chances of war with China will be slightly minimized because they would have rebuild their relationship with Putin and Russia will act as some sort of buffer for China's Belt and Road program.
This will force the Chinese government and push back their BRI program or at least stifle it for another 15 to 20 years.

One of the major disappointment during Trump's presidency is the pull out from TPP. The TPP is created to counter Chinese Asean trade and foreign policy which was part of Obama's pivot East initiative.

in Afghanistan history weapons supplied to literal cave dwellers held off the Russians and US armies, and this investment was seen as a resounding success. tossing weapons into a proxy way to bleed your opponent is a W, not an L. Bleeding russia to let the west keep half of Ukraine is a more successful campaign than both Iraq wars and Afghanistan combined, at likely 1/10th the cost.
