The disconnect is strong.
The US also subsidizes a large portion of medication expenses for other countries. We also have a higher expectation for how much to spend per extra year we can keep people “healthy”. Its an oversimplification to define it like i think you are trying to.
The most reasonable solution is to make the services as cheap as possible and to allow the individual decide for themselves what they can and cant pay for and what they do and dont want.
Tldr Letting insurance conpanies/bureaucrats decide healthcare decisions is pretty awful.
