on a serious note though, there's indeed a lot of culture war bs going on intended to merely distract people from uniting on important issues, but this one is a pretty severe attack on about half the population's rights. it might be a mere distraction to you personally, but to millions of women it most certainly is not...

i am pro choice, and i am pro trans rights. but these can still be distractions. the scotus has more important things to do, Roe should have been settled long ago and never touched again. if the scotus should do anything it should have been striking down southern state abortion bans. the legislature, scotus, and executive branches are being bogged down, intentionally, with stupid social issues to placate sheep. we're critiquing what song the band plays as the titanic sinks, while countries like China just genocide "problematic" groups and seize the 22nd century before we can even see it's coming.

again, it might be a "distraction" to you, but for half the population it's much more than that. the fact that you, regardless of personal stance, state that it should have been settled long ago indicates that you're aware that it's a bit more than just fabricated outrage over some meaningless bs.
roe v. wade being on the table again falls squarely on the previous president and republican senate leadership filling the court with religious nutjob activist judges, in order to do something that a significant majority of the population opposes (!) - something we don't mention enough here.
