I trust the research done by other scientists. When I do my work is built off the work of others, sometimes people I've met, usually people I haven't. I can't verify every detail of every published report, but I trust they generally behaved ethically, and any potential crippling issues were caught by peer review.

If you can't trust the work of others, go live in a shack in the woods and be a hermit. No one is forcing you to join society.

I don't think I can put an exact number on it. So I just go by this: covid is essentially a super flu. Yes people do get ill and some do die, however it's probably only a bit worse than the common flu. I believe the extent the media have us believe how bad covid is, is very likely hugely exaggerated.

But anyway I am glad to see that you have come around to my view. You now also believe we should be skeptical when it comes to covid numbers as reported on TV. That's a step forward.

If you think the covid numbers reported "on TV" are wrong, then tell me what numbers were reported, what source they are from, and how they were collected. "reported on TV" isn't a thing, it's a whole set of things. You're going to have to be a lot more specific if you want to be correct.

I don't personally hold any evidence to contradict the numbers being presented so my general rule of thumb in these situations is to stfu because my opinion will be born out of ignorance.
