i am puzzled as well, thats why i kept saying for a while that i dont see a full invasion happening
cant say i have seen putin lose his shit like that before (did you watch his latest statement? somehow he looks different than before)
also agreed on the ukranian government and west failing to make them a neutral state, thats why this mess is also on us
its pretty cheap to hide behind passive aggressive bs while pushing russia into a corner
an actual defense would still have been a thing imo to prevent an invasion, because this war is not exactly popular
however in this scenario putin knows that his own losses wont be high, its a blitzkrieg power grab
Yeah, I also didn't believe a full-fledged invasion was gonna happen until yesterday. I thought he was trying to coerce the West into some concessions and perhaps to grab eastern ukraine so that he gets a land connection between Russia and Crimea.
And yes, I noticed it too. Putin looks bloated, visibly aged and somehow more... unhinged?
It reminds me a bit of the difference between Trump in early 2016 and late 2020...

Maybe because he actually believes what he's said the past week?
Putin losing his mind and coming around to believing in his own, ridiculous propaganda would be very bad news for the rest of the world.
A shrewd, cynical, 4d-chess playing devil was bad enough, but an unhinged, lonely Russian leader who's believing his own hype and increasingly acts irrational - that would be a whole other kind of beast to deal with.
