Ignorance and Cruelty

It’s true that, if elected, I’d be the nation’s youngest governor. I’ll note the person who now meets that description, Governor Ron DeSantis, is doing a pretty darn good job.

DeSantis, for instance, had kids back in school a year ago. And he never forced masks on them. Gavin Newsom, by the starkest of contrasts, just announced he’ll defy the CDC and impose a new school mask mandate.

Newsom’s edict is as ignorant as it is cruel. I’ll reverse this outrage on day one. We're also working with other counties on the Healthy Kids Resolution that's passed El Dorado, Placer, and Orange County.

Finally, we’ve been greeted with quite a smear campaign online the last few days. For now, it seems to be sputtering out; the trolls made the mistake of concocting lies so crazy that few are taking them seriously.

It’s a clear sign California’s corrupt political class is deeply threatened by our movement – and it’s surely just the beginning. We’re more than ready for the fight.

Corruption settles into any governmental system. That Is the real world implementation of marxism. Marxism requires a group of all powerful people to enforce equality. When corruption sinks into marxism (as it must all systems) you get an elite junta with all the power, refusing to give it up, and you get palaces next to a sea of tent cities.

Your view of marxism is where corruption never happens. Grow up.

The Oath-Breaker

Gavin Newson has lost his lawsuit. A Judge refused to give him a pass on missing the deadline to list his party affiliation on the Recall ballot. As it turns out, he can’t change every rule he doesn’t like.

This futile attempt to place himself above the law is Newsom’s latest affront to the oath he swore: “to bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California.”

I took that same oath yesterday at the Placer Elections office. I consider it sacred. The notion that written words constrain those in power – the rule of law – is what secures our freedom against arbitrary dominion and control.

Newsom’s latest machinations around masks show how deeply he’s eroded this freedom. There’s still a mandate, but it’s now up to districts to “enforce” it. If I were on a school board, I’d post it somewhere (perhaps a supply closet) and leave the kids alone.

That’s a short-term fix to one problem. To all the problems in education – masks, CRT, indefinite closures, sham openings, not to mention years of decline and failure – there’s a clear ultimate solution. Empower parents with school choice.

Finally, tomorrow we’ll get the final list of who’s running in the Recall. Anyone working to remove this governor and restore integrity to our government I consider a teammate. That includes other candidates on the ballot.

We have one opponent in this race: Gavin Newsom. Every word I utter (and every dollar I spend doing so) will aim to highlight Newsom’s corruption and usher in a new era of sanity and decency in California politics.

Unwinding One-Man Rule

This goes without saying, but as Governor I would immediately terminate the State of Emergency. That automatically wipes out all state and local orders issued under it.

The stakes have been raised by LA County’s latest fit of anti-humanism. Its new mask mandate flies in the face of the scientific consensus – which is a pretty good sign Gavin Newsom might adopt it statewide.

Ending the "emergency" is a shot across the bow: Since Newsom has done such damage using executive powers, much could be undone by a new chief executive. The same goes for the mischief of state agencies: I’d immediately disentangle them from the lives of Californians by rolling back regulations.

A Governor also has constitutional authority to call a Special Session of the Legislature. I'd use this to throw down the gauntlet: Pass major reforms on school choice, affordability, homelessness, and more – or face accountability from voters in 2022.

On the campaign trail, we had a standing room only rally in San Diego and received a big endorsement from Senator and Supervisor Joel Anderson. Next up is San Francisco and LA. For anyone who’s still on the fence about the Recall, my short book can now be downloaded for free.

Being on the road, I’m constantly reminded what a beautiful state this is. California truly is worth fighting for.
