The more the trial takes shape, the more it looks orchestrated to be a slam dunk for the prosecution. At this point, he seems destined to be sentenced to least 20 years (obviously there's a lot of trial left and things could change). The big question: will there be riots if he gets something around 35 years?

I'm still the lone 'no' vote in this poll because I thought that people would be happy with him getting the max. I mean, they got what they wanted with OJ and that successfully prevented a repeat of Rodney King, right?

I tend to think a "guilty" charge regarding Murder 2 and/or 3 would simply be verification that America is racist, and would spawn more riots than Floyd's death did. But we'll see.

Trial: Week 2.

Still time to get your votes in, folks. Defense is doing a great job at sowing doubt, but with the jury not sequestered, the media's also doing their job to try to sway the line.

Meanwhile, the population is growing more and more polarized, weapons and ammunition sales are at all time highs, and even moderate voices are being called "extremists" of one side or the other.

Is the result of this trial likely to be the exploding point, regardless of result?

Ideal scenario if there is a not guilty verdict is for someone to just assassinate him on the spot. That way everyone wins.

How would that prevent riots? Honest question. Those who believe he murdered Floyd would still see this as proof the system is corrupt and racist.

People who riot aren't very intellectual and think in simple terms. If the guy who "murdered" Floyd gets their version of "justice," it will go a long way. How much is Chauvin's life even worth? Low 7 figures at best? There will be that much damage on a single city block. The math is simple: sacrifice Chauvin.

Very Soviet thinking. Congratulations!

Unfortunately, sacrificing one person to atone for the crimes of the State never prevented riots in Soviet Russia, or China, or Venezuela, or anywhere else. It was the willingness to suppress riots with the utilization of maximum force that suppressed riots.

That mirrors how I thought when I first opened this poll. I am one of two who voted 'no' on this poll. However, the more I read up on the situation, the less confident I am that they even have the option to sacrifice Chauvin at the altar.

Even if he gets convicted on all counts, legal precedent is not to give people the max sentence. And even if he gets the max (40 years), would that be enough to quell the riots? Those playstation consoles sitting on the shelves at Target might be too tempting to resist.

Certain demographics resorting to riots?

Simply preposterous

always the same demographic that destroys America physically :) , but hey we can't blame them. They're manipulated into victimhood by dems.

It's funny how it's always the civilized lower class/middle class that get screwed over any "dispute" that happens within the country. Destroying property of people having nothing to do with you = fighting for equality, how?

Dude that's like the most capitalist post I've ever seen. He literally reduced justice and life to dollars.

Isn't it interesting that things like "death taxes" and such, where human life DOES have a literal dollar price tag, are implemented primarily in socialist and communist nations?

It's almost like nations where "human rights" actually exist, humanity is considered to be "priceless", and things like trials over murder accusations are a real thing.
