edit: needless to say that the Dem base didnt give a flying fuck about a male abusing a female when it came to Jacob Blake or Raphael Warnock, that is, in cases where there would have been an actual political price to pay for sticking to their norms.

If they have a (D) next to their name, then the women were asking for it.

Roy Moore was a low point for the GOP, no doubt about that. But just for the record: he is a despicable human being, but he's not a pedophile. He was preying on teenage girls, not children. Also note that the GOP and even Trump tried their best to prevent Moore from getting the nomination. The original sin in that case came from Alabama's primary electorate, who chose a guy like Moore in spite of the warnings by everybody. Supporting Moore after he had secured the nomination, and even sticking by him after the allegations had surfaced, was an embarrassment.

Regarding the higher standard point: we're holding Democrats to their own standard, the one they ostentatiously stake out so they can claim the moral high ground in political debates.

In other words Democrats hold themselves and their own to a high standard, and since they sometimes fail they are just as bad as Republicans who don't even try to hold themselves to a standard.

More talking out of both sides here.

Did you read my previous post? The way Democrats stayed slient with regard to the toxic masculinity displayed by Jacob Blake and Raphael Warnock clearly demonstrates that they are not actually interested in this high standard they purport to aim for. The whole schtick is mostly for show, and definitely not intended to be followed up on whenever doing so would weaken the Democratic position in Congress or a public debate. Making an example out of Al Franken was not indicative of a higher standard, it was indicative of the Democrats' penchant for cheap virtue signalling.

If we rate morals, norm-adherence or 'standards' on a scale from 0 to 100, I would argue that Republicans hover close to zero, and Democrats at maybe a 10/100. You, on the other hand, seem to think that Democrats are a 60 or 70 or so. So, if you want to hear me say it: yes, Democrats follow a marginally higher standard than Republicans. Emphasis on 'marginally'. The main takeaway is that you vastly overrate the standard they actually follow because you eat up their PR.

What "toxic masculinity" specifically?

I put democrats at like a 45. Easily distinguishable from Republicans but not great by any stretch. They do a lot of lip service that they never follow up on but they constantly cuck themselves by sticking to norms when Republicans are only interested in power politics.

I dont eat up any PR. In fact I just said a few days ago that if they don't follow up on the 2k checks theyre gonna get slaughtered in 2022 regardless of anything else. This is just more of you trying to make the field equal when it isn't.

And from my perspective, it is you who's trying to make the playing field uneven, with "your" team having the distinct upper hand.

Problem with this is Democrats aren't my team. That's what you're not understanding.

You identify with Republicans as "your team" in American politics, I don't have a team. Democrats are "closer" to my views, and so they're honestly the only choice when I vote, but I don't identify with them as part of my clan, and I identify probably 98% of Democrats as a direct impediment to getting my views into government.

For fucks sake Biden's gone non-stop about unity. I'd love if he cut that shit out and just took the benefits of liberal positions to the American people. A national healthcare plan is overwhelmingly supported yet Biden will only ever give tacit support to it and more often than not just says he doesn't want it. Biden was Obama's VP when they did Obamacare, which was the Republican position in the 80's. On healthcare the vast majority of Democrat politicians are further right than they were in the 80's and 90's when they were calling for a nationalized system, and in response to Democrats going right Republicans have gone even further right to opposing any kind of government action on healthcare.

It takes virtually nothing to get me to start complaining about how shitty Democrats are. I literally have to berate you for a week to get you to even make a mild criticism of Republicans. I spent Obama's entire last 4 years practically begging the Republicans and Libertarians to stop using weak ass Republican propaganda as a criticism and to make real substantial criticisms of Obama.

I really don't care about Jacob Blake stuff. I'd be interested in what you have to say about Warnock though. I listened to his sermons and he seemed to have a pretty good view on healthcare, but overall I know very little about him.

That means you're a Democrat that thinks he's a special snowflake.

Democrats have moved right or stayed the same on a ton of issues.

Even gay marriage they didn't end up lifting a finger to fix. They did virtually nothing and if Obama hadn't gotten some lucky supreme court picks it still wouldn't be legal nationwide.
