The before tax income of an average Inuit is 23k per year. Rent for a three bedroom home averages over 4.2k before utilities which are extream here due to heating fuel.

These people were fine living as nomads, hunter gatherers before our intervention, and rounding them up shoving them in horrible housing conditions. They became dependant on a system of subsidy as a result. You can't live here without subsidy. New machines to actually go gather now cost a small fortune since demand is so high in southern Canada. As a result BRP, Honda etc are far beyond the reach of most families here and sled teams are a thing of the past.

You suddenly toss up 2k per month everyone's going to take it. These people live in absolute shit conditions. People seized the oppertunity to make their families lives a bit better. A twelve pack of pop here is 30 bucks. You got up to Gries Fjord it's far more. Meat unless hunted is nearly unobtainable as an Inuit due to the price. A pound of crappy cuts might run you 40 dollars.
