It very much wasn't, because workers striking is something explicitly allowed in our social contract.

Regardless, you haven't shown me any good reason why workers shouldn't be able to negotiate an exclusivity clause in either a practical or theoretical way.

I have, you just don't like the answer. To you, monopolies are evil, until it's a labor union being the one having to compete.

Turning off the sympathy was due to riots, not police unions.

Police unions regularly get these guys re-employed. Look at the MFer who shot Shaver. Unions always going to bat for cops who brutalize suspects, shoot citizens, lie, cheat, steal, etc. They should be like "we don't want you amongst our ranks." Instead, who do they not want amongst their ranks? Cops who expose bad cops. Fuck their unions.

A union negotiating an exclusivity clause is still competing against other unions.

The shop could just as easily say "no, that isn't on the table, because I can get the same terms from another union without the exclusivity clause".

My issue with monopolies is mostly that they get done by manipulating the political system to their favor. It's been argued that google has a monopoly, but honestly I don't have much issue with Google even if it is a monopoly because they are still innovating and a huge driving force in technological advancement. They aren't resting on their laurels and strictly using their size to price others out.

"Negotiating away competition" is competition.

Youre still competing with other unions on terms to get the contract in the first place, and when it comes time to renegotiate the contract those other unions are still in mind as replacements.

As long as other unions exist there is no reason to expect they aren't competing.

My focus is one when unions are struggling for work on NOT getting work due to an inherent higher price to the person paying for said task.
Most private sector construction jobs have already targeted budgets for said scope. Union Co's sometimes are out of the loop without even asking them to bid. But I think the worker and Union hall are fine with it as long as they are keeping their people working.
When they cannot they start making concessions pretty quickly to get their guys on jobs. Sad thing is the Union hall REPS ALWAYS get their money, the pay cut is to the actual guys on the job. Of course it is.

What kind of window licking nonsense is this? Are you sniffing glue? Huffing bug spray?

Public sector jobs are paid for by the tax payers. Currently these public sector jobs pay 10K ABOVE the median income that private sector jobs do AND guarantee better benefits. Further, they guarantee tenure. And should the tax payers who pay their income refuse pay increases they themselves are not receiving, then the teachers unions, police unions, etc. will simply withhold services and strike. Yet when they strike, they still get paid. So the tax payer is held between a rock and a hard place, by public servants who are behaving as their masters.

The worst part? The fact that you even think a state-based education system is better than a private education system. The top rated schools on the planet are all private Universities. The top rated high schools and down are also private and charter schools. Private schools have to compete and provide a proper education, or they go out of business. A public school only has to exist and suck up endless amounts of cash.

That you even bring up the police, when you want to defund them, is laughable. Your lack of self-awareness and consistency is pure gold.

When did I said i want to defund the police? Quote it.

Private school teachers do well, and there is no analog to many public services. Of course private schools have to compete, so do public schools. Everyone competes why bitch and moan about it. Teachers have to build skill somewhere and there should be places for new teachers to teach and work toward getting a better teaching job. Ever hear of Teach for America? They literally put anyone in a classroom and kids get interns running the class...now that is bad.

Quality of education options depends on zip code and income.

Nothing you're saying defends public sector unions in any way whatsoever.

Fact 1: Private schools and Universities provide a higher quality of education.
Fact 2: As an across the board rating, public school teachers are paid higher based on equal qualifications and experience.
Fact 3: The increased pay and benefits is a direct consequence of unions. AKA taxpayers are gaining LESS from their tax dollars than they would if they were simply given vouchers and had the ability to skip the unions.

Put the bug spray down and make an actual case. The entire point of a market is competition. Public school systems do NOT have to compete, specifically because without a voucher system, which the left OPPOSES, kids are required to go to whatever schools are in their districts. Quality of education means absolutely nothing, they still get their funding, and the teachers still get their annual raises, regardless of the state of the market.

This. Your facts need to be true for your syllogism to work. Otherwise Socrates is immortal.

If you're ignorant of the facts, do your research. I'm not here to educate you. Based on your posts in PaRD over the last several years, I'm not entirely certain that's even possible.

Pay in a market system is based on value of service. Public unions force tax payers to pay more, regardless of quality of service. It's not a non sequitur, it's the entire point.

I don't believe you even know what the words you use mean.
