Is this supposed to be a convincing argument? Pedos can go find content that sexualizes little girls even more?
Probably worth pointing out that religious conservatives were called prudes for sounding the alarm on the sexualization of society decades ago.
That’s not even an argument I’m making really. At least not the main one. Fact is, there is actual content those people can and do consume. This movie doesn’t really have anything for them.
And yes, this movie is related broadly to repressive conservative culture vs liberal democratic society with a goal of equality. The fact that it’s mostly men who have an issue with the movie is pretty telling. It’s all about controlling females and policing what they do. Hip hop dancing and fashion decisions may offend your weak sensibilities, likely because you feel aroused and feel hatred at yourself which you then direct externally (usually at women), but they aren’t yours to control. Girls being suspended for wearing a tank top to school and other pointless “dress code violations” because they “are distracting to the boys,” or angry school administrators yelling at kids hip hop dancing at the Prom (or dancing like that evil satanic sexy dancing Elvis - this shit’s been going on a longtime) are examples of social repression targeting women. This movie broadly addresses that. Again, I think that’s why women see it very different from men (who seem to have very big opinions and want to be heard and gain control over the situation without having even watched it).
