Dear Black people, please just take the abuse and dont complain about it. Thank you!
Of course it is a fucking bad idea to resist an arrest or to attack officers once you're checked by the police, of course it must have repercussions to disobey the law.
But in the larger context of the ongoing protests, this take is completely missing the point. The protests are precisely about the fact that blacks experience more abuse of authority, are both stopped and arrested far more often by the police, are experiencing a far more violent and merciless police response for the same behavior, and receive harsher sentences for the same violations of the law.
This case right here is a red herring in both directions. It did not show unambiguous, egregious police misconduct like in the Floyd or Arbery cases, and pretending like this case is similar and justification to continue rioting is stupid and self-defeating. But it's just as stupid when certain right-wing voices, those who want to see these protests abate without having led to tangible change, jump on this one case where the police were mostly justified in shooting the suspect to downplay all the other cases of unambiguous police violence and misconduct.
You've grown a lot over the short time you've been in this community. I would just like to reach out and congratulate you on being introspective and willing to challenge your point of view and that of the "tribe" that surrounds you.
Regardless of whether we agree or disagree on topics, I salute you for being willing to examine issues as an individual and make a decision for yourself, instead of parroting what an echo-chamber says.
