To be honest, a 52% income tax on INCOME over 20 million isn't that crazy (married, filed jointly). Also, a 4% flat tax for M4A is actually a really good thing. I can't believe I'm saying this, but his tax proposal is something I can get behind because it taxes EVERYONE. If everyone benefits, everyone should pay.

Seems like I'd lose money with his plan but hopefully my employer would make up the difference.

No, I'm against M4A because I'm against single payer in general. I think price fixing, competitive insurance, and a public option would be more efficient (a Dutch/German model).

Income taxes should probably be lowered across the board for everyone. Meanwhile, we should probably implement a VAT tax and increase capital gains taxes.

I'm not a huge fan of income tax. It is graduated, but it disproportionately hurts the poor and middle class despite that fact.

I actually think capital gains taxes should be zero as long as you're using the capital to acquire more capital. As soon as you use that money for consumption, it should be treated as ordinary income.

A VAT is absolutely necessary in this country but I don't think the population is ready for it.

On the flip side, you have a shitton of really poor people, and poor people are much worse off in the U.S. than in most of Europe due to your weaker social security system.

https://www.credit-suisse.com/media/assets/corporate/docs/about-us/research/publications/global-wealth-databook-2019.pdf

So going by median wealth per adult, the U.S. ranks in just the 22nd place worldwide, while they would rank 3rd going by mean wealth.

To be fair, the latter surprised me. Didnt think you would rank THAT high up in mean wealth. So while I was technically right in that you arent the wealthiest nation in the world going per capita (Switzerland and Hong Kong have you beat), those numbers confirm the wealth inequality in the U.S. to be absolutely egregious.

This is what i'm saying since the beginning with GINI index, on the other hand if they love this inequality it's their entire choice.
And each time i have one here saying they are doing well with their median income LOL....

Dont most states already have a VAT on the state level? If you added a federal VAT on top, people would revolt, lol.

not if it's tied to the costs of the product rather than the feelings of comrades.

I think it depends on the industry. The tech industry, entertainment, etc. probably would. Struggling industries wouldn't though.

Nope! A lot of states don't even have income taxes and/or sales taxes.
