The outrage mostly stems from CEO's who fucked up majorly leaving the company with a care package worth millions whilst jobs are/were being cut. That's what makes people angry. And though most people in that position would happily take the millions, it outlines a broken system.

None of this is caused by a "too low" CEO compensation in Japanese companies...


There is more to worker quality of life than a (preferably low) spread between worker and CEO compensation. But the opposite is true: if this spread becomes too large, then this in and off itself depresses worker qol.

Nope when suzuki bank bailed out an American one In the gfc their ceo realized 7 executives at the American bank made more than him.
This bank was a third of the size of suzuki.

Of course it is relevant.
It's pretty standard for executives to be over valued in western culture.
