Congrats on the newborn! :)
She can be glad that her dad is a dirty socialist milionaire, lol. ;)

It really helps me justify all the underhanded tactics i used to get here :D
For real though i want her to learn the value of human interaction more than the value of labor or money.
I do not care if she works hard i only care if she is kind, and doesn't just stick me in a home the way we did with her great grandfather.

In my country she would have a pension Single: $702.60 per fortnight (approximately $18,268 per year).

Socialists always stick up for socialism, because... misery loves company.

/e Btw, this is a topic about boomers... remember? She's not working at 80 because she needs to. She is working at 80 to pay for some millennial that is living with her. Social Security would otherwise be enough for her.

I'm on the front lines of this. Families come in like "it's time for grandma to go into the nursing home". Great. Cut the check. They're like "doesn't health insurance pay for this?" No motherfuckers, you do. Health insurance pays for the skilled nursing of physical problems that are being fixed. Nothing in longterm care is being fixed. You're being controlled in ltc.

What pays for longterm care? Medicaid. The Boomers set up a system to take care of them at the expense of their children and grandchildren's excessive taxation because individually they liked stuff more than kids and didn't have very many, and ultimately created a system that will eliminate any sort of generational wealth and feed it to the state as well because they've created a healthcare system here where it costs over 300 a day of govt money for of senior to live in a usually run down institution. Glot of proud of this lol.

Yeah, same here but its worse, we also pay everyone over 67 who passes an asset test 18 grand a year until they die.
Also we subsidise them in hundreds of other ways.
Every boomer in my country got free tertiary education then they voted to remove it.

Social Security is paid for out of every boomer's paycheck. It's self supporting. You folk can deny this all you want, but that doesn't make what you say... true.

Quote
Social Security is primarily funded by payroll taxes assessed on wages in the United States. The employer pays 6.2% of income, and the employee chips in another 6.2%. The self-employed, being both employer and employee, pay 12.4% of income into the program. Taxes are only assessed on the first $118,500 of income in 2016.

Yes... Social Security money is running out, but NOT because the boomer's didn't pay for it, but because some in the US govt. illegally appropriated the money from the SS fund.

Everyone that works....pay for SS. NOT their grandma's SS but for their own, when the time comes. It's called the FICA tax. You can quote all the BS you want, but again, that won't change the fact that the boomer's who get social security already paid for it out of THEIR taxes.

Holy cow. what a bunch of pricks.

Giving everyone $18k a year and letting them burn out and die in the community is better than putting as many people as you can in nursing homes and keeping them alive artificially as long as possible.

Social security is supplemental and a drop in the bucket. Seniors are so focused on their health...get a group of old people in a room and they will all start talking about their health and doctors and medicine, are all involved in polypharmacy and see ten specialists, all with Medicare as the primary payer and eventually Medicaid will pick up the copays. Medicare pays for home health care with "no costs out of (your) pocket". You can't tell me about this stuff Glot, because it has been my job for years to move bodies around healthcare systems based on resources and demographics. I am a healthcare problem-solver. I even get people health insurance that will go back and pay for the shit I'm doing for them.

I notice that you didn't explain where the money for medicare part B and D come from. The medicare parts that actually pay for those things.
Also, having a job using the system, doesn't mean you understand where the money came from.

/e Maybe you'll explain about co-payments and deductibles as well. Maybe you'll explain how in the long run, it's cheaper... just to die.

Then you can go back to explaining how rough millennials have it.
