The "coincidence" is that neither Obama nor Trump want to forfeit america's strategic interests, don't want to be the president that made gas cost $10 a gallon and want to keep our arabian military bases like riyadh open.
America hasn't been antagonizing the saudis directly ever, and the closest we ever came was thawing relations with Iran while still fighting the proxy war against them on the saudis side. We're not going to start bullying the KSA on a whim just because it would make some half assed politically motivated immigration ban look more palatable to americans and maybe actually put an insignificant dent in terrorism when it would be utterly catastrophic on the economy and geopolitics.
Its like asking why we don't just nuke mecca tomorrow. Notice how 90% of terrorism is committed by muslims against muslims and we're almost entirely safe because they're too busy killing each other? Why would we change that?

Yes, a LOT of the attacks are muslim vs. muslim. 90%, I don't think so. Since the 80's they have been branching out. A little at a time, but nevertheless, the attacks on non-muslim ppl in non muslim locations has been growing, alarmingly fast.
