I mean, I have no sympathy for someone who gets killed because they decided to make such a stupid decision...But there is something pretty wrong if you truly 'hope' that you get the opportunity to kill a stranger.

like someone breaks in while you're asleep and you see that he's armed, and have a clear shot.

He's proved that he means to do harm by breaking in with the gun, I'd shoot him, depending on the circumstances of the shot and who else is in the room I'd like to think that I'd try to disable him not kill him, but if my wife or kids are within his sight he's dead.
