complete utter bullshit

How so? Yeah, everything is primarily done out of self-interest. But the U.S. still does much to the benefit of other people around the world, even if it's just managing the balance of power.

k, why do you think it happened?

I'm also interested in this as long as the answer isn't they hate us because they hate us

doing a little good every now and then doesn't make up for the blood they have on their hands as a result of their meddling in foreign affairs

my bias against the american government comes from their supply of arms and military training to religious fanatics in my home country to help them wage a genocidal war against my people ^_^

no one here is saying the attacks were justified, we're saying they have their reasons

the point is that they didn't simply attack you because they hate you

it's because of the usa's self serving foreign policy

9/11 was blowback

Blowback for supporting the Gulf States against Saddam Hussein.

Radical Islam needs an enemy to fight. It was the Soviet Union before and the United States now. They can't face up to their own internal failings and they project that anger towards the world.

I'm trying to just be a bit of a devil's advocate here. Fact is that we're currently living in a more peaceful time than ever, and that happened whilst the U.S. was the world's biggest superpower.

The blood on their hands is an effect of being the world's superpower. Of course the U.S. did a lot wrong, but I honestly don't think other countries would have likely performed better. Nor do I think the world would be better off without a major superpower.

i agree, and i understand the value of the usa in its current form as a global super power and i do think they're doing a better job than the viable alternatives which is why i do not wish them ill

they're necessary and it could be a lot worse if it were someone else in place

you're missing the point

it doesn't matter who it is

if you're big, strong, and meddle in the affairs of others simply because you have the power to do so there will be consequences

suck it up and accept it for what it is instead of going all "oh why me? what did we ever do?"

Sure. I can understand that line of thinking. I hope the Middle East people also accept the consequences of fucking with America as well.

you should probably step out of that white bubble you live in and talk to people outside of your comfort zone

maybe strike up a conversation with the driver the next time you take a taxi

trust me when i say you haven't come that far, you've traded one brand of lunacy for another and still don't have a realistic grasp on things
