What don't you get?

Riding in public transportation was restricted for some people until Rosa Parks said "no."

Now, we're going in reverse, and people don't have a problem with that.

Nah bro, it's progress. We need to encourage and/or force people to stop their bad habits.

I like smoking being banned from bars and restaurants, even though I think it should be up to the owner of the establishment.

a bar near me has a designated smoking room in progress, which i think will work out fine. i mean grab your drinks and go to the designated room if u need to smoke. that way it kinda doesnt screw both sides.

as for in parks and on the beaches? i think thats a little extreme. now i dont really smoke that much but i no longer have a problem with it and out in the parks and beaches, there is generally room to move as not everyone is smoking- at least in my experience.

I don't really have a problem with people smoking outdoors, but if the people/their representatives want to have it banned than public places like parks and beaches are a reasonable place to ban it from.

i guess so, but would be more preferable to at least have like "smoking" sections in which smokers could go and smoke if they did have a craving while at a beach or a park.

like i said.. your parallels don't help or even make sense. rosa parks didn't cause cancer.. she was discriminated because of her race.

And smokers are discriminated against because of their smell. This isn't about cancer, because if it was, smoking would be banned. This is about moving smokers to the back of the bus.

Private property owners can do that.

edit: I remember skating all over the place, and it was only private property we weren't allowed.
