You've totally just explained why all primate species besides humans are monoga-O WAIT A MINUTE.
Sociology would explain it, but biology? Not so much.

Marriage has always been about procreation?
So then all married couples have children...?
Plus, same-sex couples can go through the routes of: adoption, surrogacy, or intravenous insemination.
Yes.
No.
And can be done with a civil union.

Once again, religion stands in the way of equality for all.
My position is NOT based on religion. It is an evolution of my thought process towards a compromise between the two sides.

Actually, you are very very wrong. If one group is allowed to be married and have it recognized by the state and another is not, that group is not a "straw man", that group is one that is being denied rights. Now, if you consider marriage a liberty rather than a right as I do, then the current system is prohibiting liberties. So, summarily, the current system of banning gay marriage is preventing both rights and liberties. I, as a trueAmerican™, cannot abide that.
You once again miss my point. A:
No one should have their
marriage recognized by the state. B:
Everyone should have their
union recognized by the state. Ergo, everyone gets their entitled rights, so then, if no one is denied their rights, the comparison
is a straw man. I
do not consider marriage a liberty, because in this context, the word liberty is interchangeable with right. I consider marriage a privilege. Also, as I said earlier, if gays want to be married, they can still find a church to do it for them, and government could have NO SAY in whether a church chooses to recognize such a marriage or not. In other words, in this scenario, the state CAN'T get involved because of the separation doctrine.
