US guiding bombs into Russia.

That’s nuts…the man will run out of patience…
But I think the game has gotten much more strategic and that the response will be much more passive rather than aggressive.

My father and I joked that Trump is getting flown to Arizona today, for his “Israeli Gaza” deal…If I’m saying anything, it’s that Putin and his bloc are more doers instead of talkers. If the West and Ukraine supporters want to act in this way, they will certainly regret it.

OK i basically agree with all of that. any thought on the long range missiles into Russia, or all these border shenanigans that have been going on?

Nice that we're agreeing here. :)

And you're right with my point about American troops. When I wrote "massive American troops for Ukraine", I didn't have American boots on the ground in Ukraine in mind - that's something I consider very unlikely, too. What I was thinking of is troop deployments to Poland and the Baltics to create a threat scenario which puts pressure on Putin. But then again, I'm not sure how wise that would be. Using the Baltics as a launching pad for a ground attack by NATO forces on Russia is one of the key scenarios the Russian strategists are fearing and the Russian propagandists are using to justify their actions. Playing into these talking points by deploying thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of American troops to the Baltics might be a detrimental move.

I used to be a proponent of Ukrainian missile strikes deep into Russia; to bring the war to them and to cripple their energy sector and thus squeeze their funding. But Russia's response last week was so devastating that I'm no longer sure how wise it would be to continue down this path, at least as long as the West is unable to really shore up Ukraine's missile and drone defense. Maybe ofthevoid is right that Russia could have crippled Ukraine's energy infrastructure all along.

so my current view is that the long range missiles attacks will start. and that this enters the realm of a (edit), serious, (edit), accident happening.

Feel like there's a notable ramp up in pressure by Trump and his team on getting Russia to stop the war and accept some unfavorable to them peace deal. If i had to guess, Trumps team is probably feeling good about ending the Gaza war and figured they could apply max pressure on Russia. On the other hand, i think this is partly driven by Ukraine being slowly exhausted. Stuff like the below doesn't help. Patriot was supposed to be a premier AA system that's basically been rendered useless.

Quote
Ukraine’s U.S.-made Patriot systems are now intercepting just 6% of incoming Russian missiles, down from 42%.

Meaning: they’re exhausted, outnumbered, and nearly blind.

Retired General Romanenko says the systems are “worn out and overworked” - basically the military version of burnout culture.

Russia, meanwhile, leveled up:

Its Iskander and Kinzhal missiles now pull evasive maneuvers that make Top Gun look like a tutorial.

Even the weather turned traitor - rain and fog jammed radar during last week’s blackout blitz.

Germany’s shipping 2 more Patriots, but let’s be real: that’s aspirin for a bullet wound.

Ukraine doesn’t just need better weapons. It needs a new playbook.

Zelensky’s attack on Odesa is a step too far

In a single week, Kyiv has launched a triple attack on Odesa: on its language, history, and elected government. The city, which for almost four years has endured relentless bombardment and held Ukraine’s maritime front, now finds itself besieged by its own capital.
With growing calls for an election, Zelensky appears to be clearing the field of rivals
The most startling of these moves against Odesa is president Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to strip Gennady Trukhanov – the city’s three-times-elected mayor – of his Ukrainian citizenship and office. The charge is that Trukhanov holds a Russian passport, which the mayor flatly denies. Yet without a court hearing or any due process, the president signed a decree removing his citizenship. Article 25 of Ukraine’s Constitution explicitly forbids depriving a citizen of their nationality. Even under martial law, this is a breathtaking attack on democracy.

Meanwhile in the US, Zelenskyy is greeted by the head of his own office, Yermak, along with the crew of his own aircraft.

Zelensky just awarded the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky to the nazi Commander of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, Yarosh.

The same Yarosh who in 2019 said Zelensky would be hanged if he tried to disarm extremist militias.

Zelensky should award a medal too for his unwavering support of Ukraine's Nazi regime
