Sure, except musk has publicly called for ending the EV subsidies. he was roasted for that leading up to the election because they are more now for helping GM, Ford, and Dodge catch up. EV subsidies hurt tesla more than they help by expanding the EV market which they have a near monopoly on.
spacexis perhaps a gripe he would have, idk the specifics of how viable they are without subsidies. they have contracts, idk if they have any subsidies for rockets. maybe satellites.
We subsidize stagnating companies like Boeing that have become more and more useless, while charging the US government criminal prices, while people get super fixated on SpaceX. SpaceX has developed tech that no other country has and is incredibly valuable if we look at it from the lens of a US company getting to this point first, we basically allowed a private company to incur the huge costs of developing high tech, that previously was only possible at the state level because it was so prohibitively expensive. I mean shit, in some aspects they are on par or have even exceeded NASA (and other NASA suppliers) when it comes to rocket tech. The alternative would have been for NASA or some other public corp like Lockheed to get it done, probably at price tag that's multiples and fully tax payer funded, while SpaceX is a mix of publicly vs privately funded. There's a lot of dumb shit i would put ahead of "stuff i don't want subsidized" versus SpaceX.
