the primitive "folk religions" are all based in nature worship (Gaia worship in some form), much like what some posters in this thread have espoused and is gaining traction among postmodern atheists. So these people who think themselves unreligious are indeed religious, they're just not a part of the mainstream enlightened religions and instead have a penchant for primitive nature worship religions
/e I think that what you consider religion is a codified (scripture) comprehensive enlightened religion, but these are just the most advanced religions, many exist that are not so advanced or comprehensive
