The decision was welcomed by the EU, which shows that they wanted it to happen obviously. There's articles showing the IMF and EU wanted him gone but it's not as apparent as I recall. I recall the Irish government calling for it but I can't find that. Even still, I don't think there's real evidence that firing the guy had anything to do with Joe Biden looking out for his son.

So the "other Western governments" refers to unnamed EU diplomats, and if there were other governments explicitly pushing for Shokin to be fired, their insistence was so low key that we're barely able to find accounts of that when googling for it. Meh.

What this still boils down to is that Biden was exerting his influence in outright brazen fashion to get a very specific prosecutor in a foreign country fired, a prosecutor who happened to be investigating the company with which Biden's notorious fuckup son was engaged in shady-as-fuck business deals - and we're supposed to believe that this was all just a gigantic, unfortunate coincidence?

I think your conception of what Biden is capable of is uninformed, even many years ago. The idea that he created the need to fire Shokin, created the will to support it with partner governments, and then did it, without any leaks about how he was managing this action, is kind of ridiculous. You would fall into the mindset of the classic American voter who believes government to be incompetent while also believing their political enemies are insanely competent.

You yourself just laid out reasons why figures in the state department, the EU or the Ukrainian government wanted the guy gone. The big majority of them was presumably not aware of the Hunter-Burisma puzzle piece. So according to your own arguments from your previous post, there wasn't a lot of convincing that Biden needed to do - he just had to build on the pre-existing willingness to axe Shokin, with the other players not even aware that Biden had extra motivation to go through with this move.

Well he's been in politics for 5 decades and he thrived in that snake nest by being one of the more venomous snakes so yeah he deserves some credit there
