It's the same thing here. Trump cultists don't view this as something shameful... they view it as another instance of Trump(and by extension, them) being persecuted. It only makes them more confident in their beliefs. It draws them closer to their cult leader.

Even the Trump-cult adjacent("I didn't vote for Trump but also defend him 100% of the time") look at this the same way. None of that group looks at any charge Trump faces as legitimate either, and that's a significant segment of voters.
