If you behave like an asshole, people are allowed to think you're an asshole. This is America, you can't compell people to like you or even interact with you.

The fact that we've moved from “I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it” to "If you say something I find remotely offensive, I will send a twitter mob to your house and threaten your job" means it's a pretty surreal time to be alive.

I mean you're entitled to your opinion and free speech, you can't force anyone to like you. You're dramatic bordering on hysterical about this though.

If you drive someone into destitution, and they commit suicide as a result, does that responsibility lie on you, or on the person who killed themselves?

In the same vein, if someone disagrees with your life philosophy, and you kill yourself over it, does that responsibility lie on you or the individual?

I dunno. Maybe in a few months when Steven Crowder offs himself for totally wrecking his career by PUBLICLY BEING AN ASSHOLE TO HIS PREGNANT WIFE and getting called out on it all over social media, we can ask if the chicken or the egg came first.

I don't think so at all. We're not talking about the rude guy in town who everyone ignores, we're talking about targeting people specifically for disagreeing with a vocal minority and using state power to deprive them of an occupation. For the crowd that believes words are violence, I can assure you, that's violence.



I can answer that question for you. I maintain that Steven Crowder is responsible for his own actions, and bears the chief responsibility for any suicide.

So if someone is a correctional officer and they use their Facebook account to air blatant racism and transphobia and they lose their job, you're not okay with it?

Literally conservative persecution fetish in a nutshell. Which political party is passing bills across the country related to trans people? Who's wielding statepower currently as a cudgel?

You can extend this logic to justify any restriction on speech. So what I would say is that we should exercise that power exceedingly sparingly, or end up with the sort of world that we deserve.
