I don't think government should have the power, but some people definitely deserve it (you know who you are)

Civilized countries have leaders and experienced people who decided, weirdly, to avoid death penalty. This can be considered as a priviledge, or not, since some poor countries are also avoiding it.

Of course for countries in war, with guns, violence, inequalities, religious regression, or whatever divisive or authoritarian governements, this is another story...

Those civilized people brainwashed you.

As per the bolded part, you mean every country on Earth ever?

Death penalty has been slowly abandonned by the most advanced countries since several decades.
Maybe you should worry about yourself ^_^

Usually, as an American, I just shrug off what other countries say about the United States because class warfare really isn't something most American's dwell on much unless the European-liberal inspired media taunts us about it.

I could be a total jerk and point things out out, but could we do without belittling each others countries?

Life imprisonment is way more cruel and unusual and costs way more money. Would you rather be shot or get tossed in solitary for 95 years?

truth. the problem is at least in the USA, we do next to nothing to rehabilitate people...our jails/prisons just turn them into even more hardened criminals

do you realize how much more expensive it is to kill someone than it is to have them sit in prison for their entire lives?

Germany proved you wrong 84 years ago by lining people up to save ammo. It's only as expensive as people make it.

I've gone back and forth. At this point, it is clearly needed to deal with the most heinous violent crimes, including drug trafficking, which severely impact the fabric of the country at large. We need to figure out how to streamline costs so that death row is not a decades long experience. Death by lethal injection is ridiculous, hang them and be done with it.

Singapore is a case study in the deterrent effects of capital punishment on drug trafficking, which has been declining in Singapore for decades as a result of stringent enforcement and (rare) capital punishment.

Yet it is simply to understand why all these countries abandonned death penalty. But all this is not a big deal: it's dying anyway:
