defining on how you define "prosperous" no, there hasn't. there have been successful societies without capitalism, but not prosperous ones as i'd define it.

Present-day societies are enviable places to live in because of advances in technology, discoveries in science and such. And these things are independent of capitalism. If older, merely successful societies had these advances they would be prosperous too.

You don't need capitalism to have technological advances. They only take ingenuity and education.

These advances happened to coincide with capitalism so people think capitalism is what caused them to happen. Not true.

and you saying it's not causation is silly compared to literally all historians, economists, and experts who studied this for centuries disagreeing lol.

you're not even presenting an argument, you're just stating it as fact in the face of all academia. literally the only people who agree with you are communists, literal commies lol.

I am not a communist if that's what you are thinking of, :D

Anyway, I am not saying that capitalism is bad. And if you ask me to choose between communism and capitalism, I will choose the latter, hands down. I just don't think that it's the sole cause of everything wonderful like some people believe.

i dont think you're a communist. but what you said doesnt line up with what you're now saying.

a fire can exist without pouring gas on it, but pour the gas and the fire becomes more intense than it could have ever hoped to be. capitalism is gas, the wood would have burned eventually. capitalism took what may have been a 1000 year timeline of innovation and changed it to perhaps 250 years. changing progress in this way isn't something small, its undeniably noteworthy.

Capitalism is about economics, about how we run a country. Whereas technological advances, innovations and such are in the field of academics. I don't think the former does much to cause the latter to happen. Does it hasten it? I am not sure, but probably not.
