Forgot this in my first post: DeSantis would do well to serve out his next governor term and skipping any 2024 bid for US President.

This is true, if the only concern is his political future, and not the future of the country.

He's riding high, and momentum is everything. Could he wait? Sure, but there's no guarantee that the climate or atmosphere in 2028 will be favorable for him. If Trump does run, and does win, the country may be so tired of Republicans that DeSantis doesn't even get a shot. Is he going to wait till 2032 / 2036? His star might fade. He has to make a move while he has the chance. He can do it, he wants to do it. DeSantis 2024.

1k v 1k, confirmed.

I'm tempted to narrow the bet in some way(what if Trump drops out before Super Tuesday?), but I'm so confident that I won't.

A mod is unnecessary, amirite? We've both been here a while.

From a right-wing perspective, going with Trump in 2024, rather than a strong DeSantis, risks losing the country forever. Flight 93, socialism, and such.

From my perspective, DeSantis beating Trump in the primary means Trump can't win(or steal it successfully) in the general, thereby saving the country from very bad things.

Biden is the most popular president ever, he has 81+ million loyal supporters (including you and many who frequent this forum) who say everything is going perfectly fine and the country is in excellent shape and what not. Why would they turn the tide?

Reagan or Lincoln wouldn’t stand a chance, much less DeSantis or Trump

The trolling is particularly boring on a day when there's so much to talk about after a weird election.

The circumstances which led to the 2nd Gulf War aren't going to be repeated. Wars are incredibly expensive and at this point in time we're pretty much broke.
