A 2.5% raise with nearly double digit inflation isn't a raise.

It endangers the public to cave to a public sector union holding essential services hostage in order to extort more money from the public.

What other way do they have of applying pressure on their employer? Should they be forced to accept a pay cut or quit their jobs because they're "essential"?

The entire industry will collapse if the employees can no longer afford cost of living and are forced to move away. This is of course dougs goal, leading to privatization, but they oppose it with a lot of public support.
