thats not the goal of all of them though, e.g. some gay people may just want acceptance of homosexual rights and not any and all identities

The goal of the lgbt movement has been acceptance of all identities. I don't care what an individual wants. They are not the movement as a whole.

The goal at stonewall wasn't to fight for the rights of people who identify as gay, it was to fight for the rights of those who actually are. In a sane world, identity vs orientation wouldn't need a disclaimer, that's just a product of contemporary embrace of delusion. And even then, they were fighting for a narrower brand of identity, they sure weren't crusading for MAPs.

I agree, the movement itself that is the goal, I'm just saying there are essentially "dissenters" within the group who may have thought otherwise when they first considered themselves in the movement

He's kinda right that the movement as a whole has changed alot since stonewall, in a sense the people who believe it as orientation are being discredited by the idea of identity

T has been in the movement for longer than I've even been aware if it. Who cares if it got more inclusive. You know what you call somebody who gets rights and then crusades against those rights being extended to others? An asshole. Sorry if going out if your way to be an asshole has consequences but that's just how it's always worked.

Blacks who fought against gay rights are in this camp as well.

As are women who fought against civil rights for blacks.

So only assholes oppose extending the same acceptance to MAPs that the gay community earned? And the mapphobics deserve a beatdown at the hands of militant chomos?
All I see is specious reasoning. Each supposed civil rights movement needs to be judged on its merits, not claim a door was opened by all those who came before.
