I am not arguing about whether something causes harm or not. I am merely responding to Mondain's charge that some video game developers are being predatory. They are not. They merely design very good games so that people will keep buying games and keep spending their money. This is the business model for pretty much all businesses that have existed.

Have become very good at being predatory, yes. You're exploiting human behaviour via a gambling experience or investment. Diablo Immortal is absolutely a perfect example of this. Its monetization layered with monetization layered with content blocking unless you pay and you're still gambling if you're going to be able to access such content.

If you don't like their content-blocking or even their business model, you can choose to not give them your business.

Can't comment on Diabloe Immortal cause I don't know what that is.

I don't, but I am an adult with a fully developed brain, not a teenager or pre-teen.

I'm in complete agreeance with SBD thus far.

His example of children enjoying fast food and building those memories. So spot on. There is a term for this but I cant remember it.

I won't comment on this, because I think whether video game developers should be allowed to market their products to young people with brains that are still developing is a legal grey area. And yes I can see how playing computer games can be harmful to young people, but there are also a lot of other harmful things we allow children to do, so if you are advocating we ban the sale of games to kids, we should ban a lot of other stuff, too.

Depends on the games and also the person playing.

I say overall they are net neutral.

Although the quality and the monetisation of gaming has slipped into casino generated Loot boxes and micro transaction hell-hole. There are a few decent games the rest are garbage

Sports are a net positive due to the health benefits, however I don't see how video games are a net positive or even neutral despite the nostalgic element. The addictive aspect tends to make people live online, neglect obligations and become left-wing nuts (antifa, cancel kids, virtue signalers, etc) and right-wing (racists, incels, usual suspects, etc) - look at how miserable some of the people are here.
