Imho in the next 10 years, but not anytime soon.

The huge 20th National Congress of the CCP is coming up this fall, so I really doubt that Xi will be willing to take any risks right now - and an invasion gone wrong would be a huge blow to his power and authority. Likewise, the current covid situation in China is still dicey, I don't see how they could sustain their zero covid policy and a war effort at the same time - but giving up zero covid would be a huge risk too since they have almost no natural immunity from previous infection and refused to use the effective Western mRNA vaccines out of ideological/national pride reasons.

The current maneuvers imho serve two goals: appease the nationalists who were calling for a robust response to Pelosi's "provocation", and use the opportunity of having an excuse to conduct a full-scale test of an invasion of Taiwan.
