The same crowd that supports gun rights and rights to protect their property so vigilantly also seem to be supporting freeing these cops and justifying their actions.

A person who legally owns a gun defends themselves against an intruder (no knock raid) and cops get to fire blindly spraying bullets all over the place?

They filed a false affidavit to get a bullshit warrant and then tried to cover up that they lied.

No wonder people are losing all trust.

It was a pretty crappy situation, I can see things from both points of view and the answer is getting rid of no knock warrants except in extreme cases and those extreme cases need to have very specific facts about people, what they are armed with, and why they would pose a higher threat towards law enforcement that knocked first.

If the officers lied to get the warrant and its provable they should face consequences.

I’m sick and tired of seeing the cops demonized. These BLM protesters are why crime has skyrocketed in our country. Fuck BLM.

I certainly have no time for property damage, looting or other criminal activity but don't see that as a reason that police also shouldn't be held accountable.

Bad cops who murder citizens in their homes should be demonized. Bad cops who execute citizens for reaching for their license and registration should be demonized.

There are good and bad people in every profession, just most don't hand the bad ones a gun and qualified immunity.

Per NYT

Quote
The bulk of the charges in the latest indictment surround the search warrant that police officers had sought in an investigation of Ms. Taylor’s former boyfriend, whom they had believed to be selling drugs.

Prosecutors said on Thursday that two detectives and a police sergeant had falsely claimed in an affidavit used to obtain the warrant that the former boyfriend had been receiving packages at Ms. Taylor’s apartment. In fact, according to the indictment, the officers had no evidence of such packages, but misrepresented their case to the judge who authorized the raid.

One of the officers charged, Joshua Jaynes, a former detective who was also fired over his role in the raid, sent a draft of the affidavit to Kelly Goodlett, another detective now facing charges, in which he included the false claim about the packages, the prosecutors said.

Ms. Goodlett knew that the claim was false, the prosecutors said, but did not object to it, and also added what they described as a “misleading” claim that the former boyfriend was using the address to Ms. Taylor’s apartment as his current address.

The third officer charged, Sgt. Kyle Meany, who led a department investigative unit, approved the affidavit despite knowing that it contained the false information, according to the indictment.

The indictment accuses two of the officers not only of including false information in the affidavit, but conspiring to lie about it afterward. Two months after Ms. Taylor’s death, prosecutors said, Mr. Jaynes and Ms. Goodlett met in Mr. Jaynes’s garage and decided to tell investigators, falsely, that a sergeant had informed them that packages were being sent to Ms. Taylor’s apartment.

"The Louisville police officer who wrote the affidavit for the search warrant that officers used in the botched raid that ended in Breonna Taylor’s killing is appealing his firing.

Former detective Joshua Jaynes wrote in the search warrant affidavit that he had verified through a U.S. postal inspector that Taylor had been receiving packages from her ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Glover, an alleged drug trafficker, at her apartment.

But, Taylor hadn’t been receiving packages from Glover, according to a U.S. postal inspector. And it was Jonathan Mattingly, one of the officers who fired his gun in the Taylor raid, who asked the Shively Police Department to inquire with the postal inspector about whether Taylor had been receiving packages for Glover, due to “bad blood” between the postal agency and the Louisville Metro Police Department. Mattingly relayed the answer to Jaynes. Mattingly has said that he told Jaynes that Taylor wasn’t receiving packages from Glover. Jaynes has said that Mattingly told him that Taylor was receiving packages from Glover.

Former Louisville Metro police chief Yvette Gentry, who fired Jaynes in January, said that Jaynes was untruthful in obtaining the search warrant."

When cops get to make things up and other cops use what they said to get a warrant.

Sad stuff and frankly either lazy or very incompetent or potentially malicious behaviour.

I'm tired of seeing cops getting away with atrocities under the name of the "law". I'm tired of bootlickers. Nothing but a militarized group with an us vs. them gang mentality. You aren't above the law because you wear a uniform and carry a gun. I'm tired of these police forces "investigating" their own misdeeds. 6 months of training is an absolute joke. Qualified immunity is a joke.

While I don't agree with cutting funding, I think it should be redirected to proper training. There should be a national police registry with every single incident reported on an officer traceable to any state of employment. If you want to be a public servant, be ready to be held to the highest standard. Oh, you "forgot" to turn on your bodycam UNACCEPTABLE! We see all this disturbing behavior from officers on video. I can only imagine what goes unseen.
