Maybe. I do think that if you believe the fixedness of a binary gender system, that the trans and non-binary experience may indeed seem concerning. Do I think they're concerned about the actual people? No. I suspect that they care about the idea of gender and the anxiety of what it would mean to be left behind as society becomes progressively more expansive in its view, understanding, and acceptance of gender.
