Let's block everyone we disagree with so we can have our own version of the truth!

This presumes that the blocked parties are bringing truths to the discussion.

I'm not blocking them because I disagree with them.

Forums are a very sensitive arena. Easy to poison and change the social environment of.

Perfect example, facebook or twitter. They HAVE to ban people that constantly talk about race, etc. If they didn't, the small minority of weirdoes making creepy jokes would scare away all the normal people. Within a few months you would have a website where the only people left are creepy people that talk about uncomfortable things all the time.

When someone goes around spouting gibberish and edgy things, it'll scare away the people that want to bring theories and philosophical discussions. At some point either the edgelords have to soften their messaging or the website has to take action to preserve the delicate environment.

As much as I hate Section 230, it works very well to create a civil discussion environment.

If you take this argument and apply it to society at large, you've rediscovered the paradox of tolerance.

Blocking people because they have a different worldview is weak. But some folks just never add anything of substance to a debate, are pure spammers and/or extremely stupid, are nothing but a waste of time.

The political temperature and we hate everyone that doesn't think like me from both sides makes this forum ripe for insulting worthless conversations.
Really poor leadership from BOTH sides has not helped..
And to be clear for me policy is one thing, that people can dispute fact, approaches etc.
But when the people in politics are such degenerates that they would get fired at the local Taco Bell, it leads to big problems that gets made worse when the "sides' look at these people as not only acceptable but their role models.
Well here you go America... The cult worship of ANY political figure is failure, because at their root they are SUPPOSED to be public servants with the betterment of the people at heart.
we all can agree that's not the case. The downfall of America from within is looming, without people deciding that "their guy" isn't the issue
But real leadership through service needs to be primary attribute to all elected officials.
If not PaRD will reflect the general populace as a shit show.
