If you were to actually go down the self-defence rabbit hole, it's probably by far the best home defence weapon. Most people can't shoot, so a 00 Buck is probably going to hit fired down a hallway or in a mid size room as long as the guns pointing in the general area of the intruder.

Under current Canadian laws you cant carry around a handgun concealed or not so C-21 does not impact your ability to carry a gun on the streets anyway by banning handguns. For vehicles all guns must be unloaded, out of display in a locked compartment or trunk AND you need to get an authorization to transport a restricted firearm (like a handgun) prior to even being able to travel with it.

C-21 ultimately has no impact on self-defence when you consider current laws in place anyway.

And the "urban enviro" bit of his post eludes to USA gang violence that isn't present in canada. as if he's the kind of guy that will carry a concealed handgun into the south side of chicago. when in reality he'd never go there, and if a gang shooting did happen he'd duck and cover not fire back.

No but the people on here arguing over C-21 should at least have some clue of what current laws are in Canada before they start using the self defense argument.

Its clear that most don't, I suspect because its Americans just hearing about Canadian gun bans which scratches their itch to yell freedom a bunch of times online.

Nobody is gonna open carry a shotgun when they decide to take a stroll in the local city park. That is what handguns are for.

I'm pretty sure that murder, carjacking, and robbery still exists in Canada.

You cant carry a gun currently in public in Canada so there's no impact from C-21. Its been that way forever without issue.
