The result has been a big international uproar, with arab countries rushing to boycott Indian products, the Indian government throwing her under the bus and sacking her and running damage control, and a flurry of death threats and calls for retaliation including from high ranking officials of countries like Oman. And already, street clashes have broken out between Hindus and Muslims in Kanpur, with several people injured in the riots.
It should also be mentioned that the Quran not only talks about Mohammed and his marriage to Aisha, it is showering him in praise for his "remarkable self-restraint" because he waited with consummating the marriage for a full 3 years, until the girl turned 9.
That this is indeed what the muslim scripture says can also be verified indirectly by the fact that radical islamists all around the world force girls to start wearing a full-body veil when they turn 9. So the muslim groups which are trying to live their lives and organize their society as close as possible to the example of their prophet are treating girls as "viable" at age 9... but then act outraged when someone else points this out?
Anyway, I'm always glad when non-white, non-Christian people call out the extensive dark sides of muslim faith. Takes a lot of the sting away from the usual outcry and accusations of "islamophobia" by Western liberals.
