just bumping this topic noting its about to blow up again.

context:

Irish News (RTE): China says US will 'bear all consequences' if Pelosi visits Taiwan
English News (BBC): Pelosi Taiwan visit: Beijing vows consequences if US politician travels to island
The US: WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s reported plans to travel to Taiwan have upended Washington’s political divide, with a rift emerging with President Joe Biden over the visit to the self-governing island while prominent Republicans offer encouragement to a political opponent they normally scorn.

So two questions:

1. Will Nancy Pelosi go to Taiwan

and:

2. How would China respond to the US in the event that a senior US representative did visit Taiwan this year.

China is in an economic real estate crisis at the moment. Not to mention other social issues china is facing culturally.

I don't think they'll go for Taiwan any time soon. And I hope they don't.

Back in the 60's the CIA intercepted messages that said China has a 100 year plan to take over the world.

China wants to overthrow globalism.

in irish media ~

The White House said that apart from Taiwan, the two leaders discussed a range of other issues, including climate change and health security. The Biden administration has been considering whether to lift Trump-era tariffs on Chinese imports, arguing that such a move could ease soaring US inflation. But the US president did not discuss that issue with Mr Xi on Thursday, the senior US official said. Analysts believe that both Joe Biden and Xi Jinping want to avoid an open conflict, the BBC's State Department Correspondent Barbara Plett Usher reports. But neither has made any attempt to alter their competing narratives, which was illustrated again by their contrasting statements about Thursday's call.

In a brief summary, the White House said it was part of efforts to "responsibly manage differences" and work together where "interests align". In a much longer one, Beijing said many of their interests did align. But it blamed the US for the deteriorating relationship, criticising the Biden administration's view of China as a "primary rival" and Washington's "most serious long-term challenge."

Taiwan an island of 20 million, close to china, with a significant 5th column is going to stand against a 1.4 billion population super power with a GDP of 15billion.

This topic is 100% legit. Too many people have brains fried by marvel movies. China will either take taiwan by force, or the 1000% more likely outcome that they do it through soft power and diplomacy over the coming decades.. China is an economical powerhouse, it doesn't need to fight wars to get what it wants.

US shouldn't really force the issue and turn it into a war, because there is no scenario where that tiny island stands up to 1.4 billion. It is far preferable for everyone involved that they just let it be absorbed peacefully
