now i remember (what i remember).
the uni bomber was the big story of its day.
Ted Kaczynski had the authorities absolutely baffled as to his identity. I remember a story about how he found some hair in a public bathroom and put that into one of his letter bombs. if the authorities found it they be on a false DNA trail.

any way then waco texas and waco texas/ branch davidians /david koresh/siege became the new big story. This story took the attention away from the uni bomber story. they actually let a news crew in to interview david koresh (i thought that was odd and perhaps some kind of psy ops?).
shortly after that ted kaczynski released his "manifesto". his brother recognized it and reported it. which resulted in teds arrest.
