Incorrect.

Lots of us conservatives prefer him.

tcock is right, Trump is still kingmaker to an extent.

DeSantis has been very effective and is probably the best bet in 2024 as of right now. I’d personally prefer him to stay governor for another term becaue 2024 is going to be a cluster of epic proportions and it’s best for anyone with long-term aspirations to steer away from that mess

Trump's endorsement is what matters because he's the leader of the party. No one cares about DeSantis outside of Floridians.

Trump's endorsement clearly has some sway, as evidenced by Vance's victory. But then again, 68% of the vote went to other candidates that Trump did not endorse. In a crowded 5-way race between flawed candidates, even a swing of 8 or so percentage points from a Trump endorsement can make the difference, but Trump's endorsement isn't an automatic field-clearer.

I would say primary voters are still receptive to cues from Trump and his endorsements, but they have their own mind. In 2017, Alabama primary voters flouted Trump's endorsement of Luther Strange to pick Roy Moore as their guy (what a choice that was in hindsight) and in 2022, Kemp will easily crush Trump-endorsed Perdue in spite of Trump focusing a lot of his energy and narcissistic rage on that race.

Well, you live in a shithole of a state, that's why lol.

I can't believe your evening news led you astray like that either. Maybe the production staff was busy doing heroin.

DeSantis has long established himself as a national figure at this point, and even the loser dweeb McConnell wing of the GOP put higher odds on a DeSantis 2024 win than anyone else.

Yeah, if Trump decides to run, DeSantis is the only one who has any chance of wresting the nomination from him; if Trump doesn't run, DeSantis starts out as the odds-on favorite for the nomination.

If 2024 indeed ends up being a Trump/Biden rematch, they might schedule the debates in a nursing home.
It's time for both of them to make way for the next guard, for people who aren't drooling, rambling fossils with early-stage dementia.
