... while others understand that women's rights ARE, in fact, human rights - and that if you want to prevent abortions you teach comprehensive sex education and provide affordable healthcare, rather than punishing (predominantly poor and minority) women in already difficult situations.

but hey, that requires empathy, perspective, effort, and actual knowledge of the issue - when simplistic (religious) narratives and authoritarian measures are so much easier...

The right to one's life is the first, most important right. Standing up for those not yet able to speak in their own defense is incumbent on those of us who consider rights to be worth fighting and/or dying for.

Sure, I have empathy for people in bad situations, but my calculus has taken their suffering and weighed it against a permanent revocation of all of the other party's rights permanently, and found their suffering to be less onerous.

i already told you how to achieve that (comprehensive sex ed, affordable healthcare), but you're not interested in practical solutions (which would actually take your alleged empathy for people in bad situations into account), you're advocating for the moralising, authoritarian way.

again, not everyone understands that women's rights are human rights, it is what it is. you might want to live in a theocracy - i sure don't...

You keep bringing that up, you obviously don't understand my take on abortion. Other people certainly use their faith to justify their positions. I use the NAP for mine. I don't oppose sex education or contraceptives. I oppose killing people, and unlike you, I consider the unborn to be people.
