Great way to make an exceptionally dumb generation. The world is far more nuanced than people want to believe it is. Your school did you a disservice if they approached topics in that fashion.

In what way would they be dumb? Teaching them respect?

The alternative being... showing them the countless ways people can be different. At what point does the list of differences require more time to explain than is available, to teach let's say, programming or the trades.
