Wrong. He was complaining about them being released. He has zero say on how long their sentences should be.

Except it's not a prison sentence. It's medical treatment. Some of them need treatment till they are reasonably healthy and no longer present a risk to the public, at which point they are released. Some of them can be placed on extended leave, which means they can live in the community, provided that they take their psych meds. Neither of these involve locking them up for life.

One of the issues with removing mental institutions was the flooding of the streets with newly homeless mentally ill people.
Which they absolutely did, in fact it was greatly politicized around the time it happened. Sadly most citizens have the memory of a goldfish.

I don't have a party. Democrats by and large don't even want a national Healthcare System.

Regardless the point stands, if you don't want these things to happen maybe don't vote for the party that closed down the Mental Hospitals in the 80s and continues to fight so people don't have reliable access to Medical Care
